Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) has an immediate opening for a
postdoctoral physicist to aid in the development of high-brightness muon
beams for Muon Colliders, Neutrino Factories, and stopping-muon
experiments. IIT is working in partnership with Muons, Inc., Fermilab, and Jefferson
Lab to develop muon beam cooling. Funding is through the DOE SBIR/STTR
program. The primary job responsibility is performance and development
of numerical simulation studies of muon beam cooling devices and
systems. Other responsibilities include development and testing of muon
beamline components, or work with high-pressure, high-gradient, RF
cavities. Minimum requirements include a doctoral degree in physics
with some experience related to future job duties. Computer literacy is
essential and experience with simulation of particle propagation through
matter using large simulation packages, or in accelerator physics,
particularly beamline optics design, is desired. Send your resume and
names of three references, preferably by email, to Prof.
Daniel M. Kaplan and Dr. Thomas
Roberts. Illinois
Institute of Technology is an Equal Opportunity employer and encourages
applications from qualified women and minorities.
